Delightfully relaxing and grounding, cacao husk tea is naturally sweet, and has delicious notes of caramel, chocolate and honey. It is caffeine-free and is packed with antioxidants. All of your favourite spices or citrus will pair well with cacao tea. Enjoy hot or chilled, sweet or milky - the options are yours to explore!
This is my personal favourite way to prepare cacao tea...
Ingredients and equipment
250ml of boiling water
Teapot or infuser
Slice of orange or lemon, a few lemon verbena leaves (optional), a small piece of ginger grated, and a teaspoon of honey if making iced tea.
Method to make hot tea:
Add 2 tsps. (4-5g) of cacao tea to a teapot or infuser.
Add 250ml boiling water, brew for 4-5 minutes (longer if you like it strong), then pour and enjoy.
Method to make iced tea:
Follow the instructions above, then cool in the fridge.
Serve over ice with a slice of orange or lemon, some crushed lemon verbena leaves and a teaspoon of honey.
You can also play by adding a pinch of cinnamon, a little vanilla paste, whole cardamom pods or a chai spice mix.
